  • 8 oz penne pasta Cook according to the package instructions.
  • 1 lb lean ground beef Can be substituted with turkey or a plant-based alternative.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can be replaced with half-and-half or dairy-free options like coconut cream.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Use additional for garnishing.
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste salt Use to taste.
  • Pepper to taste pepper Use to taste.
  • 2 tsp olive oil For sautéing the onions and garlic.

Preparation and Cooking

  • Cook the penne according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve about 1 cup of pasta water.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned, about 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to taste.
  • Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Gradually mix in the reserved pasta water until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
  • Blend in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts smoothly into the sauce.
  • Toss the cooked pasta with this creamy sauce in the skillet, ensuring every piece is well coated.
  • Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan or fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat with a splash of water or cream to maintain sauce consistency. Can be frozen for up to two months.
